The tubular frame introduces a secondary function to the mirror, allowing it to become a surface for small still lifes such as dried plants or found objects. The design combines a minimal mirror surface with a spatial frame that partially envelops it, creating a structure that shifts between object and display system. Through this interaction, the mirror becomes something that can be continuously reinterpreted. The result is a reflective object that exists between function and expression, offering a subtle platform for personal composition. The structure is defined by three bent steel legs, which provide stability while allowing the plant to grow freely and naturally within its form. The design prioritizes simplicity and adaptability, giving space for the plant to remain the central focus. Kaari can be scaled into different sizes and variations, forming a subtle system that evolves with the growth of the plant. The result is a functional and durable support that combines structural clarity with a light, open presence. Kaari was selected for Habitare Protos in 2021 and exhibited at Habitare 2022. The design creates a soft, indirect illumination that reduces glare while forming a calm spatial atmosphere. The structure is composed of gently bent elements that create a layered surface, allowing light to diffuse softly across the form. The technical components are integrated into a detachable 3D-printed housing, which also enables easy separation of materials at the end of the product lifecycle. The result is a scalable lighting system where material expression, function, and recyclability are considered as a unified whole. The glass form is created using a wooden mold designed for variation through cold working techniques. Different surface treatments and colour variations allow for multiple expressions within the same structural idea. The wooden base conceals the light source while providing a warm contrast to the glass. The project examined how mixed plastic waste can be transformed into durable products for public environments. Developed in collaboration with material engineers and researchers, the work explored the entire process from waste stream to finished object, including material processing, testing, and large-scale robotic 3D printing. The recycled plastic was sorted, cleaned, compounded, and granulated before undergoing material and safety testing. The resulting material properties informed the design process and highlighted both the opportunities and limitations of working with mixed recycled plastics. The furniture was designed specifically for outdoor public use, embracing the visual character of the material and additive manufacturing process. Simple geometric forms and layered structures allow the roughness and variation of the recycled plastic to become an integral part of the objects rather than something to conceal.
