Netta Kandelin is a designer currently living in Helsinki. She has graduated as an interior architect and furniture designer from The Lahti Institute of Design. She has a background as visual merchandiser and various marketing and management positions. Her design studies did not quench her thirst for practical knowledge of different materials and thus she is currently studying glass blowing at The Ikaalinen College of Crafts and Design.
Functionality is a guiding factor in her design - not forgetting considered details and playfulness. Her ultimate goal is to solve problems and create pleasant experiences and environments where it is good to be.
Netta finds inspiration from warm countries and natural elements. She has an endless interest in learning and exploring something new from different fields and materials and she wants to constantly develop her skills. As a designer, she hopes to work widely but sustainably on different design projects with different materials and methods.
Full CV available on request.

“I’m strongly profiled as both a designer and a maker. My design process is very hands-on and experimental, with a significant emphasis on working with my hands. Plants, metal, glass, and simple designs that highlight the material and form are natural elements for me in design.
As a glassmaker, I’m still in the very early stages of my career, but I strive to bring something new and innovative to this wonderful yet endangered field, and to help preserve the vanishing craft. I am particularly inspired by mold design and various curious experiments with different materials and organic substances, such as snow, which drive me to create both serially produced functional items and more artistic pieces.”
