Jää —

Formed by winter

Jää explores how naturally occurring ice formations can be translated into glass. Inspired by frozen waterfalls and weathered blocks of ice found in the Nordic landscape, the collection examines the relationship between natural structures and crafted objects.

The forms originate from ice blocks collected from nature and used to create plaster molds for glassblowing. While each piece is blown into the same mold, subtle variations in the process ensure that every object develops its own individual character.

Their organic silhouettes and textured surfaces create changing reflections and optical distortions, allowing the objects to function equally as vases, vessels, or sculptural pieces. The collection captures a fleeting moment of winter and preserves it in glass.
