Kuura —

Shaped by snow

Kuura explores the fleeting encounter between heat and cold. The collection emerged from a simple question: could the textures and crystalline qualities of winter be captured permanently in glass?

The distinctive surface is created by bringing hot glass into contact with snow. In the brief moment where the two opposites meet, the material records traces of the interaction, forming a shimmering texture that cannot be fully controlled or repeated. Each piece becomes a unique document of this process.

As light moves across the surface, the objects reveal ever-changing reflections, shadows, and optical effects. The result is a collection that captures a moment of winter and preserves it in glass, transforming a temporary natural phenomenon into a lasting object.

Exhibited at NoDe – House of Nordic Design during 3daysofdesign 2024, Copenhagen.
